Band5 Registered Nurse / Midwife – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Location: Royal Alexandra Maternity, Paisley

Hours: Full-time / Part-time available

We are looking for a committed and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Royal Alexandra Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a highly specialised environment, caring for premature and critically ill babies and supporting their families during a challenging time.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to neonates requiring intensive, high dependency, and special care.
- Monitor and assess babies’ clinical condition, responding promptly to changes and escalating as appropriate.
- Administer medications and treatments in line with local and national protocols.
- Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to care planning.
- Support parents and families, providing education and emotional support.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure high standards of care.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control measures and health and safety policies.
- Registered Nurse (Adult or Child) with current NMC registration.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Previous neonatal experience is desirable, but full training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Compassionate and reliable individual with excellent organisational skills.
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Comprehensive induction and ongoing training, including Neonatal Qualified in Specialty (QIS) pathway.
