Overview

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non‑clinical professions. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this post consists of 37 hours per week. Please be advised that, effective 1 April 2026, the full‑time working hours for all Agenda for Change posts will be reduced to 36 hours.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Neonatal Nursing team within the Neonatal Unit at The Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley as a Senior Staff Nurse. The Neonatal Unit provides Level 2 care to patients and their families within Greater Glasgow and Clyde, and works in collaboration with other Neonatal Units to provide Level 3 care.

• Assess care needs and develop programmes of care; implement and evaluate these programmes, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality care to patients and their families.
• Provide cover when the Senior Charge Nurse or deputy is absent, ensuring the effective operation of the clinical area and taking charge of the shift.
• Work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating a commitment to family‑centred care, continuing professional development, and an understanding of our service and the specific needs of our patients and their families.

• Registered nurse, registered child’s nurse, or registered midwife with experience in neonatal nursing.
• Qualified in neonatal nursing speciality.
• Live NMC UK PIN required.
