Title: Accounting Analyst (Alfa)

Compensation: $65.00 - 75.00/hr

Overview

Our client, an automotive finance company, needs an Accounting Analyst to represent the Accounting department on a major system implementation, the SETF Spark project. You'll be the subject-matter expert making sure accounting processes, general ledger impacts and controls are designed, tested and working correctly in the new Alfa Systems platform. The role suits a hands-on accountant who has strong GL and reconciliation skills, is comfortable working with technology teams, and has delivered on a systems project before.

Accounting

& Financial Process Responsibilities

• Represent the Accounting department’s requirements, concerns and controls throughout the system implementation
• Analyze current accounting processes across multiple systems and redesign how they will flow into the new platform
• Learn how the system’s financial side works, including accounting rules, GL mappings, posting logic, workflows and parameters
• Make sure GL maintenance, financial reporting, account reconciliation and internal controls are supported in the future-state design
• Find ways to automate manual accounting processes and improve efficiency
• Build deep knowledge of automotive finance accounting and the related systems
• Help set direction for future system enhancements from an Accounting and Finance perspective

Project & Testing Responsibilities

• Write user stories and requirements that capture accounting needs, following the project framework
• Work with the configuration team to translate accounting requirements into system setup
• Plan and run functional, smoke, SIT and UAT testing, validating accounting entries, balances and reconciliations before go-live
• Document test results, log defects and confirm fixes meet accounting requirements
• Keep stakeholders informed and bring them into design reviews and decisions throughout the project

Communication & Collaboration

• Act as the liaison between Accounting, Finance, technology teams, vendors and other departments
• Lead working sessions with stakeholders whose priorities compete, and drive them to decisions
• Promote project standards and juggle competing priorities based on business needs
• Stay current on the data, reporting and systems available to Accounting and Finance so you can advocate for business users

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
• 3-5 years of experience in Accounting or Finance
• Alfa Systems / Alfa Financial Software experience required
• Solid general ledger background: GL maintenance, journal entries, financial reporting, account reconciliation and internal controls
• Systems implementation or project experience required, including hands-on UAT/SIT testing
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and strong overall Microsoft Office skills
• Automotive finance, auto lending or leasing experience strongly preferred
• Strong problem-solving skills: able to define issues, gather data, establish facts and draw sound conclusions
• Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and follow-up skills
• Detail-oriented self-starter who can work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
