Project Director

Project Director senior leadership opportunity with responsibility for delivery of complex, high‑voltage substation projects for a major National Grid client, shaping critical energy infrastructure for the UK. You will lead multi‑disciplinary teams, influence strategy, and see the direct impact of your work on safety, reliability, and the energy transition.

• Lead end‑to‑end delivery of transmission substation projects (design, construction, extension and refurbishment), ensuring they meet National Grid standards.
• Take full accountability for programme, budget, quality, safety and commercial performance, with robust governance and reporting tools to support you.
• Proactively identify and manage risks and issues, driving a culture of zero harm and full compliance across all worksites.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with the client, suppliers and subcontractors, acting as the key senior point of contact.
• Lead, mentor and develop project teams, fostering collaboration, performance and continuous improvement across engineering, commercial and site delivery functions.

• Degree‑qualified in Electrical Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline; a Master's is an advantage.
• Circa 15+ years experience delivering large‑scale transmission, high‑voltage substation (400 kV/275 kV) or renewable generation projects.
• Deep understanding of electrical systems, grid connections and commissioning, with a track record of delivering safely, on time and on budget.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, comfortable influencing at senior level and coordinating diverse internal and external teams.
• Commercially astute, decisive and solutions‑focused, with excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust quickly.
