Business Manager - Accountancy & Finance @ Eden Scott | Hiring the best Finance talent for the top industries across Scotland!

Location: Midlothian (hybrid working)

Salary: Up to £35,000 DOE

Eden Scott Accountancy & Finance Division is delighted to be supporting a friendly, ambitious and fast‑growing business in Midlothian as they look to appoint an experienced Bookkeeper on a 13‑month fixed‑term contract
.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing day‑to‑day financial processing, including supplier payments, sales income, and general ledger entries
  • Overseeing the sales and purchase ledgers, ensuring accurate and timely posting of all transactions
  • Preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements
  • Carrying out regular bank reconciliations and resolving any discrepancies
  • Producing monthly financial reports, including cash flow updates, P&L summaries and balance sheet information
  • Assisting with quarterly management accounts, providing clear insight into business performance
  • Coordinating payroll activities and ensuring staff are paid accurately and on time
  • Processing employee expenses and ensuring compliance with internal policies
  • Supporting the Director of Finance and external advisors with year‑end preparation and general administrative finance tasks
About You
  • Solid bookkeeping experience, ideally within a varied or multi‑income‑stream environment
  • Strong understanding of ledgers, reconciliations and VAT
  • Excellent attention to detail and confidence working independently
  • Good communication skills and a proactive, organised approach
  • Experience with accounting software and strong Excel capability
