Position: Technical Author - Inorganic chemicals BAT - 32437

Technical Author - Inorganic chemicals - UK BAT

Do you want to make a lasting positive change to the environment? As a Technical Author in the UK BAT team you can.

Responsibilities
  • Draft BAT Conclusions and prepare a final document suitable for publication as a new, UK‑wide environmental standard for industry.
  • Liaise with Technical Working Groups and present the BAT Conclusions to stakeholders.
  • Work with industry partners to ensure the BAT concept principles are applied consistently across the large volume inorganic chemicals (LVIC) sector.
  • Manage project timelines and deliverables to meet UK‑wide BAT objectives.
Qualifications
  • Specialist knowledge and understanding of the LVIC industry.
  • Good understanding of process engineering and environmental issues.
  • Good understanding of environmental legislation and policy in the UK.
  • Capability of critically analysing technical arguments and data.
  • Ability to write and communicate technical documents clearly.
  • Strong project‑management skills and a drive to complete assignments on time.
Experience / Skills Required
  • At least 5 years of working experience in the environment regulation of the LVIC industry.
  • Solid understanding of UK and EU industrial environmental legislation, especially the IED and the Environmental Permitting Regulations.
  • Expertise in collecting and technically analysing complex industrial data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong relationship‑building and networking abilities.
  • Ability to prioritise and organise tasks and resources to achieve timely results.
  • Adaptability in responding to challenges and building consensus.
  • Capacity to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and to promote equality and inclusion.
