Job Description

We need a Marine Water Quality Officer to help make this happen.
Position:
Marine Water Quality Officer – Operations Catchment Services (two positions: one permanent and one fixed-term for 6 months).
- Review reports and summarise key information for decision‑making.
- Use data to inform water quality models and interpret monitoring data and model outputs to support environmental protection.
- Provide timely answers to technical questions and summarise technical work for non‑technical audiences.
- Apply sound records management principles.
- Build strong relationships with customers, dispersed team members and external partners.
- Take on incident management duties, including full training and support.
- Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline; professional membership or working towards membership desirable.
- Experience in data analysis, preferably with knowledge of modelling software.
- Skills in Excel, Access, R, Power BI, GIS and specialist packages such as Mike or Cormix are an advantage.
- Comfortable working in a virtual team and travelling for occasional national meetings.
- Strong communication skills – able to convey technical information clearly to non‑technical audiences.
This is a national role based at the EA Office with flexible/hybrid working arrangements. Training and mentoring will be provided. Contact ben.eva for further information.
Our selection process includes competency questions focused on data and information management, effective communication and teamwork. Successful applicants may be placed on a reserve list for six months after the initial assessment.
