The RoleThe OT Security team within SSEN Transmission is responsible for securing the digital systems that keep the lights on. This role leads a small team (4–6 analysts and engineers) in assurance and testing of our established security controls to ensure they remain effective. Responsibilities include checking adherence to processes, monitoring and reporting on software vulnerabilities, and directing audits, inspections and penetration testing.

- Lead and prioritise a programme of security audits and assurance to identify vulnerabilities within existing controls, including secure configuration, IDAM, PAM and software vulnerability management.
- Create annual Network and Information Systems (NIS) reports for our regulator (Ofgem), assessing achievement against the Cyber Assessment Framework (CAF).
- Monitor and audit our supply chain to ensure security requirements are included in contracts and suppliers deliver against these commitments.
- Support the delivery of cyber‑resilience improvement projects to reduce risk and improve security maturity.
- Contract external resources to undertake independent control reviews and audits, including control maturity assessments, supply‑chain assessments and penetration tests.
- Experience undertaking control and maturity assessments, ideally with the NCSC Cyber Assessment Framework (CAF). Understanding of other frameworks such as NIST CSF and ISA/IEC
62443 is beneficial. - Experience working within an OT environment, preferably for a large, regulated utility, and understanding the limitations of applying controls within OT.
- Experience leading teams, prioritising workload, developing junior members and establishing effective ways of working.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with stakeholders from deep technical experts to senior leaders.
- Experience producing content for regulatory audiences, including price‑control submissions and regulatory reporting.
