Mechanical & Electrical Locking Fitter Grade 3
About the RoleAs a Mechanical & Electrical Locking fitter you’ll be responsible for the maintenance and repair of the mechanical signalling system and interlocking within the Network Rail Infrastructure. In joining our Locking Team you'll be part of a dedicated and skilled team who utilise traditional engineering skills to help maintain a safe, reliable mechanical signalling system.
Responsibilities- Work safely at all times, ensuring that work carried out by the team is undertaken safely, expertly and in line with the relevant .
- Carry out Signalling & Track maintenance work according to correct specification and as instructed.
- Undertake rapid response and on‑call duties when rostered to do so.
- Ensure the safe keeping and correct use of tools and equipment.
- Have excellent engineering manual dexterity alongside excellent fault‑finding skills.
- A good understanding and knowledge of working within locking fitting, signalling or similar engineering equipment or experience working in a maintenance environment.
- Excellent manual dexterity skills.
- Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
- The ability to communicate effectively.
- A full UK driving licence.
Abilities:
- Able and willing to work shifts.
- Ideally a Personal Track Safety (PTS) card holder.
- Able to work well in a team environment where safety is paramount.
- Ideally able to show previous experience supervising teams.
Salary: IMC 33 – B £34,128

Perth Offices (Scotland)

Personal Track Safety CompetenceThis role is safety critical and will require a medical and/or Personal Track Safety Competence. Personal Track Safety (PTS) is a set of safety regulations and procedures that individuals must adhere to when working on or near the tracks of the UK rail network.
Drugs and Alcohol StandardFor some of our roles all prospective external candidates offered a conditional role will be required to undergo and pass a drugs and alcohol test. Your application will be rescinded if you record a positive test. All positive drugs and alcohol test results for prospective candidates will be securely held on Sentinel database and a 5 year suspension from applying for a safety critical role, a role which requires PTS certification or a Key Safety role on Network Rail Managed Infrastructure will be enforced.
