As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, at our Peterborough, Ontario facility, you will work on a variety of technical and engineering assignments including design, drafting, and implementation of electrical, instrumentation and controls projects (Capital, Expense, Development) under the guidance of engineers.
Starting May 2026 for a duration of 12 to 16 months.
Main Responsibilities:
Develop 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings and bills of materials for complex electro-mechanical first of a kind toolingAssembly and testing of custom equipment through the design evolution from prototype to finished productAssist with the development of test procedures for systems to ensure compliance with design specificationsAssist with the operation of the final tooling system in the customer facilitiesPerforming both classical hand calculations and analysis (including FEA) to qualify systems and/or components against applicable codes & standardsPreparing clear and concise design reports and technical specifications.Driving innovation and new methods in the development of new technologies and nuclear systemsCollaborating globally within the Westinghouse Engineering framework alongside SMEs and nuclear specialistsSupporting resolution of issues throughout design, manufacture and testing of systems and/or componentsQualifications:
Enrolled in 2nd year or recent graduate of an Mechanical engineering program at a university with a minimum GPA of 75%Strong verbal and written communication skillsExcellent problem solving and time management skillsStrong mechanical/electrical aptitude and knowledgeKnowledge of electronic equipment and computer hardware and softwareSelf-motivated and highly organizedProficient in AutoCAD Electrical or similar softwareA background with practical skills developed through jobs, school teams or personal interest are highly valued.#LI-Hybrid
