Our Organization
The National Diabetes Trust is Canada’s largest charitable clothing and small household goods collection service. With more than 5,000 donation bins and an active home pick‑up service in communities across Canada (excluding Quebec), we collect unwanted gently used clothing and household items to raise much‑needed funds for Diabetes Canada.
Hourly Wage: $19.25 per hour
Part Time:
Up to 29 hours per week
- Monthly bonus for Top Drivers program

- Hours of Work: up to 29 hours per week with a consistent schedule developed in collaboration with operational needs
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role drives established routes to collect donated clothing and household items from customers’ homes and designated charity donation bins, then delivers these items to Corporate Partners and storage facilities.
Highlights of the Role Include- Understand and promote the mission of the National Diabetes Trust to the general public and all volunteers
- Have thorough knowledge of the organization’s goals, services, programs, and structure at all levels
- Operate vehicles in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, ensuring safety and responsibility
- Conduct pre‑ and post‑trip inspections
- Submit appropriate paperwork and Hours‑of‑Service Logs daily
- Maintain proof of valid driver’s license, vehicle registration, and inspection documentation
- Check‑in with dispatch at the beginning, mid‑day, and end of each route
- Provide a message card to each donor
- Log all assigned pick‑ups accurately
- Unload merchandise as instructed and return equipment to the office at day’s end
- Report route discrepancies with dispatch
- Ensure only authorized personnel ride inside the truck
- Participate in all required driving‑related NDT education, initiatives, directives, and procedures
- Perform additional duties as required to support Operations
- Grade 12 Education or equivalent experience
- Ability to read maps and handle 10‑50 lbs. loads
- Drive a 3‑Ton (16‑foot) straight truck with strong organizational skills for efficient route mapping
- Project a positive business‑like image to the public and communicate effectively with diverse groups
- Provide calm assistance to upset clients and maintain a professional attitude under stress
- Understand and follow written or verbal instructions; good command of English
- Superior customer service skills
- Full Class 5 and/or G license (or higher) for passenger car or light truck, with at least 5 years of actual driving experience (2 years if professional commercial vehicle training received)
- Clean driver abstract, less than 21 days old, with no violations or accidents in the last 3 years
