At BWXT Nuclear Energy Canada Inc. (BWXT NEC), we are committed to excellence in every business initiative. With over 500 workers across locations in Peterborough, Toronto, and Arnprior, BWXT NEC supplies nuclear fuel and fuel channel components, services, equipment and parts for the CANDU nuclear power industry.

We are looking for aSenior Buyer for our Peterborough, Ontario site. BWXT NEC's Fuel Handling and Engineered Solutions group is involved in the design, manufacture, development, testing, parts supply, and service of on-power refueling, reactor maintenance, and nuclear medicine delivery tooling sold around the world. We are the original designer of the automated systems that allow 24/7 on power refueling of CANDU reactors and aim to solve some of the Nuclear Industry’s most challenging problems.

Today, BWXT’s equipment is being used in most of the nuclear power plants in Canada and is critical to delivering carbon free energy production and lifesaving medical isotopes.

Position Overview:

To purchase assigned commodities and services, for the function intended and from the best-qualified supplier, primarily involving items with the largest dollar value and of the most complex or technical nature, involving the most critical specifications which require greater experience and expertise, assuring maximum return (lowest cost, highest quality, on-time delivery, etc.) for each dollar spent is obtained, all within ethical purchasing practices and Company policy.

This position is onsite in Peterborough, Ontario.

Your Day to Day:

• Commodities & Services Purchasing:
• Purchase assigned commodities and services;
• Review and analyze quote to ensure clarity and accuracy of technical and commercial items.
• Visit with suppliers to stay current with vendor capabilities;
• Investigate new manufacturing applications and interface with vendor’s senior management personnel;
• Develop strategic product/commodity procurement and develop new vendors, considering all business factors including technical, market, commercial, scheduling and quality factors.
• Contract Administration
• Provide ongoing purchasing contract administration including revision management, schedule maintenance, warranty claim resolution, quality and commercial discrepancy settlement, etc., as required during the life a contract;
• Lead multi-functional teams in complex negotiations.
• Corrective Action:
• Provide supplier corrective action resolutions, supplier quality improvement and vendor claim cost recovery.
