Rolls‑Royce Canada Limited is offering an exciting opportunity as a Structural Systems Design Engineer (Finite Element Analysis Specialist). This brand‑new role is based out of our Peterborough, Ontario site and is part of the core engineering team. You will perform and audit analysis on key structural components that are designed in‑house and on COTS parts when required. You will provide guidance on best‑practice methods at our local facility and, when called upon, at other Rolls‑Royce locations.

As a Structural Systems Design Engineer, you will collaborate with on‑site manufacturing engineering to support production queries involving higher‑level complexity. You will also interact with customers and vendors to resolve technical issues and provide essential information for decision‑making. Innovation is at the heart of Rolls‑Royce; at our Peterborough site we develop custom electro‑mechanical solutions for Naval Defence and Marine customers.

Key Accountabilities
  • Conduct static, time‑history and spectral structural analysis to ensure safety and fit for purpose.
  • Carry out vibration, dynamic and mechanical analysis to ensure safety and fit for purpose.
  • Audit and verify analyses performed by other engineers.
  • Define and review processes of the local engineering group to ensure alignment with best practices.
  • Review cases forwarded by manufacturing engineering that require specialized consideration.
  • Address technical issues with customers and vendors as required.
  • Develop, review, and edit technical documents to support the site’s needs.
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a comparable STEM discipline.
  • 10 years of experience; preference given to those with an FEA background.
  • Must be a Professional Engineer in good standing.
  • Proficiency with Ansys, Solid Works EPDM, SAP, and Microsoft Office.
  • Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Must obtain Canadian Controlled Goods and Reliability Security Clearance.
Preferred Requirements
  • Clear communication with the engineering team and the ability to guide others on technical matters.
  • Experience with Simulink.
  • Exposure to machine‑tool and welding‑process use.
  • Proven ability to operate independently within cross‑functional teams.
  • Demonstrated planning, organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
