Financial Controller

What is the role

As the group Financial Controller the role will involve working closely with the CFO overseeing both financial and management reporting managing transaction processing functions such as in-house accounts payable and receivable leading the audit process and being responsible for internal controls.

You will oversee a team comprising two direct reports and three indirect reports playing a pivotal role in the financial processing for the business and own the implementation of a new finance system.

• Own the production of timely and accurate monthly financial and management accounts and statutory reporting.
• Monitor cash flow working capital and cost control across the business.

• Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations.
• Manage external audits and liaise with auditors and advisors.

• Lead and mentor a talented finance team fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
• Support team development through coaching training and clear goal setting.

• Drive continuous improvement in finance processes and reporting.
• Implement a new finance system and embed automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and control.

• ACA ACCA or CIMA qualified.
• Proven experience in a Financial Controller role ideally within retail or consumer goods.
• Demonstrated success delivering systems upgrades or implementations.
• Strong understanding of multichannel retail operations and inventory accounting.
• Effective people manager with a coaching-led approach.
• Strong technical skills and an eye for process improvement.
• Enjoys thriving in a fast-paced evolving environment.
• Confident communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills.
• Hands‑on proactive and commercially minded.
