A defence sector client is urgently seeking a Technical Writer / Proposals Specialist to join on a short-term contract. This role is outside IR35

The position is based on-site in West Cambridgeshire (4–5 days per week, flexible), with the potential for repeat work in the future. You’ll play a pivotal role in producing technically accurate, persuasive proposals that align with client requirements and industry best practices.

The Technical Writer will collaborate with technical SMEs, service architects, and delivery teams to translate complex technical concepts into client-friendly language. You’ll ensure proposals are clear, persuasive, and compliant with governance standards, contributing directly to bid success strategies.
Key Responsibilities- Create clear, persuasive, and technically accurate responses to ITNs
- Collaborate with SMEs, architects, and delivery teams to simplify technical concepts
- Ensure proposals align with client requirements and organisational capabilities
- Participate in bid reviews and contribute to win strategies
- Ensure proposals meet governance standards and contractual requirements
- Incorporate ITIL and ITSM best practices into service descriptions and operating models
- Develop technical documentation including service models and operating frameworks
- Proven experience as a Bid Writer or Proposal Specialist in IT Managed Services or similar technical environment
- Strong knowledge of ITSM frameworks and ITIL principles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for client audiences
- Familiarity with managed service models, SLAs, and service delivery processes
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and bid management tools
- High daily rate
