Peterborough City Council is seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead our Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub this is a pivotal leadership role, ensuring that children and families receive timely, effective safeguarding interventions through a collaborative, multi-agency approach.
As Service Manager, you will provide strategic oversight and operational leadership to a team that includes Team Managers, Social Workers, Senior Practitioners, and Children's Advice and Information Officers. You will champion best practice, drive service improvements, and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership:
Manage and supervise a Children and Families team, providing professional guidance and support.
Multi-Agency Coordination:
Identify and convene service meetings involving partner agencies, chair meetings where appropriate, and ensure clear outcomes and follow-up actions.
Quality Assurance:
Dip sample, audit, and produce regular reports for the Head of Service.
Strategic Contribution:
Prepare reports, attend the MASH Operations Group, and feedback to senior leadership.
Service Development:
Oversee MASH operations, lead projects, and support the implementation of Family First.
Link Role:
Act as the key liaison between MASH and the Emergency Duty Team (EDT), providing feedback and learning to improve practice.
Skills
Social Work England registration and a recognised social work qualification.
Extensive knowledge of childcare legislation, statutory guidance, and child development.
Proven experience in professional leadership, driving practice improvements, and preparing formal reports.
Strong analytical and decision-making skills to evaluate complex information.
Commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and addressing inequality.
