Job Summary

As Caterpillar develops a new generation of Battery Electric Machines and related charging infrastructure, our Digital applications will need to change to accommodate new user needs. The Electrification Applications Business Analyst is part of a larger product management team defining application requirements for both existing and new software applications. These will be a mix of internal applications for condition monitoring and supply chain management, as well as customer‑facing applications for fleet and site management.

The role works alongside other Product teams, UX, Analytics, and Engineering teams to deliver capabilities to support our Electrification and Energy Solutions partners and also supports prototyping efforts prior to application development.

What You Will Do
  • Translate business needs into concept designs and provide documentation on screen functionality, naming conventions, calculations, and definitions of values
  • Capture and document performance and persona‑based requirements in the form of Epics, Features, and Acceptance Criteria
  • Partner with UX teams to ensure interface Figma design meets customer needs and fits within existing product design frameworks
  • Manage creation, maintenance, and prioritization of the Product Backlogs according to business and strategic value
  • Coordinate with Engineering and other Product Management teams to develop and deploy new features and releases on schedule
What You Have

  • Effective communications: transmit, receive, and interpret ideas, requirements, and processes appropriately for the intended audience
  • Collaboration:

    work with cross‑functional teams to define and prioritize features, enhancements, and integrations based on customer feedback, market research, and industry trends; translate product requirements into detailed user stories, specifications, and acceptance criteria
  • Application design and development: knowledge of product features; design, build, and develop a new software application from concept through to production
  • Feature documentation: technical writing ability; write detailed product requirements for data structures to support new application or analytic features/functionality
Top Candidates May Have
  • Domain knowledge: understanding of equipment management, energy management, charge operations, battery performance, construction site operations, or other domains relevant to electrification of construction sites
  • Software product management: knowledge of software product management; operate and manage software product development projects at all stages of the product lifecycle
  • Speed to output: thrive in an agile environment of quick turns and frequent iteration
  • User ethnographic studies & interface design: deep user focus to define user problems and design approaches visualizing the information needed to make decisions
  • Product roadmap development: group and phase deliverables from MVP to follow‑on releases, building trust with users progressively
  • Stakeholder management: balance needs across multiple stakeholder groups to deliver results
