Job OverviewProvide oversight, input, and recommendations for managed system items affecting the NSS organization. Review the current managed system used by Nuclear Sustainable Services (NSS) and identify items that are not applicable and can be exempted. Assist in data gathering for department budget preparation, monitor variances, and report to the Supervisor.
Under the supervision of the Supervisor, provide technical evaluations, advice, and coordinate technical work related to the commissioning, operation, and maintenance of facilities. Identify potential problems and opportunities, assess and evaluate issues, and recommend solutions including further review or abandonment. Prepare documentation such as equipment specifications, engineering calculations, and operational procedures. Ensure installation and implementation are as intended, and instruct staff as necessary.
Keep up-to-date with industry developments.
- Knowledge of physics, engineering, mathematics, and chemistry related to system design and performance.
- Understanding of construction/installation methods for major facilities.
- Knowledge of business processes for cost estimation and project trends.
- Proficiency in English, both oral and written.
- Experience developing departmental procedures and planning large-scale projects.
- Experience in the nuclear industry or decommissioning projects is an asset.
- Familiarity with industry processes and procedures.
- Experience working at Pickering Nuclear Generating Station is an asset.
- Proficiency with Visio, Microsoft Office, SharePoint.
- Knowledge of project management principles, including budgeting and scheduling.
- Typically acquired through a four-year university degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
- Experience in design, development, and operation of nuclear generation facilities.
- Familiarity with plant systems, processes, and industrial environment.
- Understanding of manufacturing and supply techniques.
- Experience in project management, including scheduling and scope control.
- Ability to coordinate efforts of project staff and maintain a positive team environment.
- Managed System experience is beneficial.
- Approximately eight to ten years of relevant experience is required.
