What is the Opportunity?

Nuclear portfolio includes building, refurbishing, maintaining, and decommissioning nuclear power facilities. Aecon supports clients with expert project management to meet exacting standards. In partnership with Atkins Realis, Aecon Nuclear has been awarded the definition phase contract with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to plan the Pickering RF  project, refurbishing four reactors and replacement of forty-eight steam generators at the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station.

The Project Coordinator directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering and construction requirements within the project scope. The Project Coordinator reports to the Project Manager and helps manage schedules, manpower, customer relations, engineering, and procurement. Risk analysis, project forecasting, and coordination with EPC and subcontractors are daily activities.

Responsibilities
  • Lead by example to ensure a “ONE TEAM” Project-First approach for internal, external, cross-JV, and client-facing interactions.
  • Demonstrate strong nuclear safety culture and support safety programs and statistics.
  • Assist the Project Manager in creating and sharing the vision of project success with the team.
  • Plan and implement an engineering and construction program with defined plan, activities, milestones, and manpower requirements.
  • Develop and maintain the project schedule and budget for engineering and construction segments.
  • Provide status reports on milestones and schedule adjustments.
  • Control expenditures within the project budget.
  • Identify manning requirements and coordinate with trades and subcontractors.
  • Maintain meeting minutes and risk tracking actions.
  • Coordinate preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design documents, as-built drawings, turnover documents, etc.
  • Review project design for compliance with engineering principles, standards, and contract requirements.
  • Coordinate technical developments, scheduling, and problem resolution.
  • Interface with customers to provide status reports and ensure needs are met.
  • Provide progress reports to customer, project team, and management.
  • Participate in safety program monitoring and quality assurance activities.
  • Prepare and review purchase specifications and subcontracts.
  • Engage in action tracking and risk management processes.
  • Monitor internal and external deliverables as part of the contract.
  • Provide feedback to team members and support performance discussions.
Qualifications
  • Technical (Engineering or Engineering Technology) education.
  • 5+ years of engineering and/or construction project experience.
  • Proficient written communication skills (report writing).
  • Knowledge of SharePoint applications is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for communicating with a large team.
  • Preference given to those with nuclear outage planning experience.
