How You Will Make an Impact
Kinectrics has a growing portfolio of services supporting the development and deployment of new nuclear power plants and lead the life extension projects of existing nuclear power plants in Canada and around the world. As part of our growing design team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the design of mechanical systems and/or components both in the traditional nuclear market, and in new initiatives to develop nuclear technology.
The successful candidate will be working within a multi-discipline engineering team mainly supporting the design engineering team located in Durham Region. The role is within the OPG Site Engineering (Mech/Civil) section, which is focused on leading projects at various OPG sites, e.g. Pickering, Darlington, etc. The role will be engaged in either refurbishment projects and/or new build projects led by OPG site services team.
- Provide input and direction to the development of conceptual/detailed equipment designs as they progress through a structured design process
- Provide technical oversight and mentoring of more junior members of the Engineering team
- Perform Mechanical engineering analysis and/or reactor core design and analysis
- Interface with construction/procurement partners and utility stakeholders, throughout the lifecycle of the design project (i.e., from preliminary and conceptual engineering to detailed design, implementation and close-out) to provide practical and effective solutions as per requirements.
- Provide field support to multi-disciplined plant design modifications, including provision of field engineering
- Understand and assess client problems and determine appropriate means of solution.
- Conduct technical assessments and emergent troubleshooting/engineering to support refurbishment projects and operating unit (capital) projects.
- Interface effectively with other staff on multi-disciplinary projects.
- Stay current with developments within their field of expertise.
- Occasional travel within the GTA may be required
- Other duties as assigned.
