Tooling Mechanical Technologist

As a new member of the Pickering tooling team, you will be involved with a variety of exciting refurbishment tools, supporting the design and modifications for the mechanical tools.
We are seeking an extremely self‑motivated Mechanical Technologist who is eager to advance their career in the nuclear industry. The successful candidate will perform engineering work in compliance with Atkins
Réalis/Candu Energy QA programs, applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. This role requires strong collaboration with colleagues and clients to execute assigned engineering tasks with precision and quality.
- Responsible for site support and tool maintenance services.
- Performing assessments (and qualification where needed) of mechanical tooling and components.
- Tool refurbishment to ensure tooling is ready prior to production use.
- Procure and track the status of components required for the refurbishment of assigned tools.
- Attend weekly discipline meetings and provide status updates for scheduled deliverables.
- Responsible for preparing documents such as work orders, test procedures, test reports, operation manuals, change requests.
- Implementing and maintaining key project support systems (i.e., configuration management, document management and change control systems) for the tooling department.
- Responsible for change control - Using configuration management system provided by the department to maintain design documentation. Preparing and maintaining work plans for the design change activities.
- OPEX Review - Assembling OPEX and assessing what changes should be incorporated in the future designs of Tooling and Equipment.
- Responsible for upholding the technical quality of the assigned scope.
- Responsible for reporting and suggesting resolution to any potential impacts to technical quality identified by the various tool manufactures and vendors.
- Responsible for the assigned project planning and scheduling activities.
- Prepare and deliver presentations related to tooling development and maintenance to clients, as required.
- Identify potential work scopes and opportunities for growth.
- Technologist diploma (Mechanical), Mechanical Technician certificate or equivalent based on mechanical experience.
- Previous experience with engineered tooling and Retube tooling is an asset.
- Engineering drawings interpretation.
- Nuclear Quality Assurance program knowledge.
- Engineering Change Control program knowledge.
- Analytical ability and effective decision making.
- Organizational skills.
- Situational awareness and effective problem‑solving skills.
- Inter‑personal communication skills.
- Experience with CAD software such as Solid Works is considered an asset.
