Network Deploy Technician

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that keep the cloud running. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables, and we’re looking for talented people to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. The role is a Network Deploy Technician that works with minimum supervision to drive the stability and sustainability of next‑generation networks, assist in automating and scaling our network, and support several data center locations.

Key responsibilities include:

Scale support of multiple data center locations and day‑to‑day capacity management.

Assist with project execution directed by Network Leadership and Technical Project Managers.

Work closely with internal customers and external vendors to facilitate smooth project execution.

Leverage experience supporting large‑scale enterprise networks, network implementation, and troubleshooting.

Manage AWS’s extensive network infrastructure, establish and follow best practices, and refine operational procedures.

Manage work and priorities through ticketing system and workflows to complete customer requests and projects.

Collaborate with stakeholders to remove project obstacles.

Troubleshoot networking, routing, and interconnectivity issues, including patch panels and patch cords.

Specify power and cooling requirements and ensure hardware racking/stacking for new equipment.

Participate in migration, configuration, and rollout of new or upgraded hardware.

Travel within and outside of the regional work area is required.

Physical Requirements

Regularly lift or move up to 40 pounds; participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds.

Work in a 24/7 environment with primary responder rotation and after‑hours support as needed.

Work in cramped and/or elevated and/or noisy environments.

Bending, lifting, stretching, reaching, standing, and walking up to 8+ hours a day.

Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely.

Basic Qualifications

High school or equivalent diploma.

1+ year experience in a technical or vocational role such as computer hardware repair, infrastructure cabling, network deployment, data center operations, or technical project management.

Preferred Qualifications

Data center experience and industry‑standard certifications (CompTIA, CCENT, Network+).

Knowledge of network cabling, optic types, and test equipment.

Experience with tools for network troubleshooting (VFLs, OTDR, power meters).

Understanding of infrastructure technologies, including routers, switches, load balancers, and firewalls.

Knowledge of major command line protocols (Cisco IOS, JunOS, GNU/Linux) and networking protocols (BGP, OSPF).
