Overview
We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join a well-established building services consultancy in Plymouth.

This role offers the opportunity to work on innovative, sustainable electrical design projects across healthcare, education, commercial, and residential sectors while developing your expertise in a supportive, collaborative environment.
The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical building services designs, ensuring compliance with UK standards, and contributing to energy-efficient, integrated MEP solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Design electrical building services systems including power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, and fire alarms
Prepare calculations, specifications, and technical drawings using AutoCAD;
Revit experience is desirable
Collaborate with mechanical and public health engineers to deliver fully coordinated MEP solutions
Conduct site surveys and inspections to validate designs and ensure accuracy
Engage with clients and project teams, providing technical guidance and support
Ensure compliance with BS 7671, CIBSE guidance, and other relevant UK regulations
Support sustainable, low-carbon, and energy-efficient design initiatives
Mentor junior team members and contribute to continuous improvement
Candidate Profile

Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or related discipline
Minimum 3 years’ experience in electrical building services design
Proficient in AutoCAD;
Revit experience advantageous
Strong understanding of electrical design principles, UK regulations, and sustainable design practices
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
Detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to delivering high-quality designs
