KierBAM are a joint venture partnership between Kier and BAM Infrastructure. We are delivering the redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site in Plymouth, and we’re seeking an experienced Temporary Works Coordinator. The coordinator will join the design/engineering team and be responsible for coordinating all aspects of Temporary Works on this major dockyard project.
Due to the sensitive nature of the site, a BPSS security clearance is required. The clearance process may take up to eight weeks. Candidates must hold a passport from an EU, NATO, Five Eyes, or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past five years.
Responsibilities- Reporting to the Lead TWC / Temporary Works Manager
- Coordinating Temporary Works between site teams and designers
- Reviewing TW design briefs prepared by site teams to ensure suitability for issue to the project’s Temporary Works Design teams, and managing the submission process
- Managing Temporary Works through the full design preparation and checking processes in accordance with applicable procedures and client requirements
- Managing Temporary Works design submissions through their full life‑cycle to client approval, implementation, use and dismantling
- liaising with in‑house, supply‑chain and external design consultants simultaneously
- Ensuring the implementation of Temporary Works on site is in accordance with the approved and checked design details
- Conducting site inspections and issuing TW permits
- Demonstrating a personal commitment to the project’s Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and the management system requirements
- Developing and maintaining an awareness of SHE hazards and associated risks and demonstrating a commitment to minimize those risks
- Managing and coordinating Temporary Works Supervisors
- Complying with commercial processes
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory requirements and Joint Venture policies and processes
- Providing practical support and mentoring to less experienced members of the temporary works team
- Degree qualification in civil engineering or equivalent – desirable (BSc, BA, BEng, MEng, Eng Tech, MICE, TIStruct
E, completion of higher apprenticeship) - Considering personnel working towards chartership/incorporation with IStruct
E, ICE or another appropriate professional body - Minimum of five years’ experience as a TWC on heavy civil/construction projects, preferably with experience in the nuclear sector
- Experience overseeing a broad range of reinforced concrete, formwork and falsework Temporary Works schemes as a TWC or in part as a TWS
- Ideally experience in design and/or engineering management
- Strong working knowledge of Temporary Works Management procedures
- Experience delivering major infrastructure projects
- Awareness of commercial processes
- Knowledge or experience of structural steel building construction would be useful
