Butler Rose are delighted to be working with a respected organisation in Plymouth who are seeking a Accounts Payable
Assistant to join their dedicated finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong accounts payable experience - ideally with some exposure to utilities billing - to take on a varied and rewarding role within a supportive and collaborative environment.
The RoleReporting to the Accounts Payable Manager, you'll play a key role in delivering an accurate and efficient utilities accounts payable service. Your responsibilities will include:
- Accurately recording and analysing utility invoices and ensuring timely processing for payment.
- Liaising with internal teams, bill management providers and energy suppliers to ensure a seamless flow of information.
- Coordinating meter readings and maintaining accurate records of property meters, billing data, and related documentation.
- Assisting with utility supplier tendering processes and supporting financial reviews at month and year end.
- Processing journals, purchase orders and invoices, and assisting with audit requirements.
- Providing excellent customer service to colleagues, suppliers, and residents, ensuring all enquiries are handled professionally.
We're looking for a team player who is detail-oriented, proactive and organised.
You will have:
- Experience working within a financial environment, ideally with knowledge of utilities billing or metering.
- Strong Excel and data analysis skills, with the ability to manage and interpret large datasets.
- A sound understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and financial control accounts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to accuracy and service excellence.
- A minimum of 3 GCSEs (grades 4-9 or equivalent) including Maths. An AAT qualification (Level 3 or above, or currently studying) would be advantageous.
