Dietitian-Weight Management Specialist Practitioner
Job Summary
37.5 hours per week. Hybrid working pattern with some evening hours. Based at the Cumberland Centre, this role supports weight‑management patients and those preparing for or who have undergone bariatric surgery through multidisciplinary interventions.
Livewell Southwest is an independent social enterprise delivering integrated health and social care services across Plymouth, South Hams, and West Devon.
Responsibilities- Provide specialist care to patients with morbid obesity and co‑morbidities, including education, coaching, signposting and individual or group support.
- Serve as a resource for health and social care professionals, carers and the public; offer training and disseminate information to all healthcare professionals.
- Autonomously manage a clinical caseload with no direct supervision; maintain accurate, up‑to‑date patient records.
- Participate in clinical audits, evidence‑based research projects and service evaluations to improve care.
- Communicate with patients, families and multidisciplinary team members using motivational interviewing, empathy and diplomatic skills.
- Manage clinical risk within own caseload, refer to multidisciplinary team as required.
- Maintain professional competency through CPD and keep a portfolio of development.
Essential
- Registered Dietitian with HCPC registration.
- BSc in Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Experience managing obesity patients.
- Evidence of audit/research participation and CPD maintained in a portfolio.
Desirable
- Community service experience.
- Experience in weight management or health improvement services.
- Counselling qualification.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to organise, prioritise, delegate and work autonomously.
- Leadership and teamwork capabilities.
- Able to cope with stressful or emotional situations.
- Flexible working, including evenings as required.
- Self‑motivated, proactive and empathetic.
- Accurate time‑keeping and adaptability to change.
£38,682 to £46,580 per annum (pro‑rata).
ContractPermanent, full‑time, part‑time, job share or flexible options available.

Working ConditionsHybrid working with occasional evening hours. Physical demands include moving equipment and frequent positional changes during patient assessments and educational sessions. The role may involve dealing with verbal aggression from patients or staff.
