CAMHS Early Practitioner
Job Summary
37.5 hours per week. A band 5 professionally registered clinician will work within the CAMHS Early Help Pathway, supporting the emotional, psychological and social wellbeing of children and young people, and promoting resilience, prevention and early intervention in line with the 2015 Future in Mind strategic vision.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver evidence‑based, targeted interventions (1‑1 and group) within the I‑THRIVE model, ensuring timely assessment and use of Routine Outcome Measures.
- Provide assessments, targeted interventions and advice & support for children and young people.
- Represent CAMHS in multi‑agency meetings (EHAT, SEND, child protection) and liaise with CAMHS pathways across the city.
- Participate in the delivery of training programmes to schools and community services.
- Maintain high standards of care, confidentiality and professional governance.
- Support the early help assessment clinics, contribute to counselling and parenting programmes, and mentor students.
- Engage in line management and continuous professional development.
Essential Knowledge & Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good organisational, prioritisation and time‑management abilities.
- Experience in mental health assessment, including risk management.
- Work effectively under pressure and be self‑motivated.
- Knowledge of legislation, policies and the I‑THRIVE model.
- Multi‑agency working experience.
Desirable Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency with IT programmes.
Essential Experience
- Post‑registration experience working with children & young people with mental health difficulties.
- Experience managing own caseload and providing autonomous practice.
- Experience working with culturally diverse families and multi‑agency settings.
Desirable Experience
- Experience in children's mental health and supporting students.
- Line management of junior staff.
Essential Qualifications
- Core degree in Nursing, Social Work, OT or equivalent mental‑health modality with relevant experience.
- Professional registration (NMC, HCPC or equivalent).
Desirable Qualifications
- Post‑graduate training in child and adolescent mental health, counselling or systems practice.
- Clinical supervisor & assessor training.
Additional Requirements
- Professional registration confirmed.
- Willingness to travel across Plymouth.
- Flexible working hours and willingness to work across Livewell.
- Criminal record checks (Disclosure & Barring Service) required.
Band: 5 –
Salary: £31,049 to £37,796 a year (pro‑rata).
Contract: Permanent.
Work pattern: Full‑time, Part‑time, Job share, Flexible.
