Plymouth Community Cancer  Champions Project
is a three-yeartest & learninitiativewhich began in April 2024,funded by
Macmillan Cancer Support
, hosted by
Zebra Collective
in close collaboration with
Age UK Plymouth
and the
Wolseley Trust Social Prescribing Team
.

This projectis testinganasset-basedcommunitydevelopmentapproach to improving cancerexperiences andoutcomesforthosemost excluded from opportunities forearly diagnosis,treatment and support— particularly those living in low-income areas, people from minoritisedethniccommunities, andpeopleover 50.

The project enquiry
: how significantan impactcan building on community strengthshave on people’s cancer journey in these communities?

The project began in
Devonport,has moved into
Stonehouseand Whitleigh
,andisnowexpanding intoseveralotherneighbourhoodsincluding
Barne Barton, Morice Town,Ernesettle, North Prospect,and the
East End
.There has been much learning already, whichwe’retaking into the 2ndhalf of the project.

Manager - Plymouth Cancer Champions

Responsibilities
  • Lead the team
  • Coach the team to work in an asset-based, trauma-informed, inclusive manner
  • Ensure the overall cohesiveness and integrity of the project, maximising its potential
  • Co-ordinateand service the Project Board meetings
  • Identify and maximise opportunities for collaboration and partnership work, building effective partnerships with relevant statutory, voluntary and community organisations
  • Lead on monitoring and evaluation of the Macmillan Cancer Support Project
  • Be an activein

    Zebra Collective,undertakingother duties appropriate to the post and the Collective
Qualifications and Experience

Be experienced in management in community projects or similar
