Due to expansive growth, we are looking for someone with natural negotiation skills & a strong knowledge of materials used within the home building industry to join us as our Buyer
.

You will play a crucial role in sourcing, negotiating, procuring materials and services necessary for the successful execution of our residential development projects, ensuring cost-effective solutions, without compromising on quality.

The role
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other stakeholders to identify the materials and services required for each new build housing project.
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify potential suppliers and subcontractors, evaluating their capabilities, pricing, and track record.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure costs are competitive and terms are favourable to the business, whilst also maintaining great supplier relationships, monitoring performance, quality, and delivery timelines.
  • Work closely with the construction team to ensure that materials and services are delivered on time and meet the required specifications.
  • Monitor industry trends, changes in regulations, and advancements in construction materials to make informed sourcing decisions.
  • Collaborate with the finance department to track and manage project budgets, ensuring cost control throughout the procurement process.
  • Participate in regular meetings, with cross-functional teams to provide updates on procurement activities and address any issues that may arise.
About you
  • You will have excellent knowledge of Building Materials and be able to speak knowledgeably about the quality vs costs of individual material types
  • You will have a strong understanding of construction processes and industry standards in order to negotiate effectively
  • You will be able to communicate effectively and be able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • You will have strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple building projects simultaneously.
