Our Client in the Automotive Manufacturing Industry is seeking to employ a Quality Specialist to their team based in Port Elizabeth.
Requirements:- Grade 12 Certificate with Mathematics and Science as subjects.
- Certificate in Quality Assurance.
- Quality Assurance Diploma or Engineering Diploma (preferable).
- Yellow Belt Six Sigma (preferably Green Belt).
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in an OEM manufacturing environment.
- Experience supervising at least 1–2 direct reports.
- Good understanding of IATF 16949 and automotive core tools.
- Good understanding of OEM-specific requirements.
- Strong knowledge of statistical tools and indices.
- Ensure compliance with applicable automotive quality standards and OEM-specific requirements.
- Perform verification and validation of improvements, change processes, and new product launches.
- Conduct Layered Process Audits.
- Support audit findings through root cause identification and implementation of corrective and systemic actions.
- Enhance internal supplier performance to improve the quality of work-in-progress products and services.
- Participate in daily meetings as part of the Fast Response Team to resolve defects and close exit criteria.
- Develop and maintain Control Plans and contribute to FMEA cross-functional teams.
- Supervise Product and Process Inspectors and support decision-making on non-conforming product.
- Review and sign off all inspection records and provide feedback to inspectors.
- Perform archiving and retrieval of records in line with record retention policies.
- Monitor significant characteristics using statistical tools and data acquisition software.
- Conduct Measurement System Analysis on measurement devices.
- Attend daily scrap meetings and provide input on out-of-control conditions.
- Ensure accurate defect capturing and correct identification of failure modes.
- Support defect reduction action plans to meet operational targets.
- Provide weekly summary reports to management.
- Act as area custodian for quality control and quality assurance processes.
- Perform daily on-the-job observations to ensure product and record compliance.
- Provide support in addressing customer complaints.
- Contribute to lessons-learned databases and coordinate the issuing of quality alerts and training materials.
- Comply with Health, Safety, and Environment requirements.
- Promote a positive safety culture and ensure team adherence to safety policies.
- Maintain workplace discipline and clearly define team roles and responsibilities.
