THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a Mechanical MGSE (Mechanical Ground Support Equipment) Coordinator to support the definition, design, validation, and delivery of MGSE and tooling solutions. The role involves working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams to ensure designs meet programme requirements, safety standards, and compliance with relevant regulations. The successful candidate will manage the end-to-end process, from requirements definition through to delivery, ensuring high-quality outputs and adherence to project schedules.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Support the definition of MGSE and tooling requirements, providing consultancy during specification generation in line with manufacturing and programme needs.
- Attend meetings to scope requirements and ensure alignment with project deliverables.
- Evaluate requirements and prepare quotations including cost, lead time, and supporting documentation (storyboards, project plan, CBS/WBS).
- Produce build-to-specification or build-to-print documentation, compliant with design and quality requirements, legislation, and standards.
- Adhere to ADS procedures for manufacturing, assembly, testing, and contamination control.
- Apply GD&T in designs to ensure manufacturability; drawings to conform with Airbus Defence & Space and ISO standards.
- Develop designs considering site plant and equipment capabilities.
- Manage design reviews with appropriate Go/No-Go gates (Kick-off, PDR, CDR, Delivery Review Board).
- Provide expertise in design, stress, and safety to complete statements of work; support more detailed analysis for mission-critical items.
- Maintain and update own hardware/software tools to current industry standards.
- Assess and negotiate impacts of post–kick-off design changes in good faith.
- Support internal and external procurement teams during purchasing phases.
- Ensure designs achieve UKCA and/or CE marking, with full regulatory and safety compliance.
- Maintain configuration management of all design data.
- Interface effectively with Airbus IT systems (e.g., Windchill, DDMS, 3DX).
- Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.
- Proven experience in MGSE, tooling, or aerospace/defence mechanical design.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T, design standards (Airbus/ISO), and regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with CE/UKCA marking requirements.
- Hands-on experience with 3D CAD tools (CATIA, 3DX) and data management systems (Windchill, DDMS).
- Experience leading design reviews (PDR, CDR) and producing supporting technical documentation.
- Understanding of safety, stress analysis, and compliance in mechanical systems.
- Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
