IT Infrastructure & Support Apprentice

Starting salary £18,000 per annum with the scope to increase and dependent on candidate experience.

Training to be provided
As an IT Support Apprentice you will be studying towards a level three ICT Support Technician apprenticeship. This apprenticeship is 22 months in length and will involve ongoing onsite training and mentoring from the Rocket Computer Services team combined with 25 days of off the job training at the PETA training centre in Cosham.

About the role
What will my new role involve?
Joining the team as an IT infrastructure apprentice you will learn:

• Install and maintain computer hardware laptops audio/visual equipment and peripherals
• Routine administration including data backups and Active Directory maintenance
• Software installation maintenance and upgrading in line with rocket development policy
• Server Network / Cloud Based Infrastructure support
• Administration and development of Internet Intranet Extranet and E-mail systems including learning platforms and websites
• To keep abreast of technological developments and encourage the use of ICT at all levels
• To support staff and students with the set-up and preparation of ICT equipment around clients

Essential skills

• GCSEs at grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English and maths
• Good communication skills
• Have a personable friendly and polite nature
  
  Strong customer service skills
• Be confident in lone working as well as part of a team
• Have a basic understanding of Operating Systems and Office applications
• A genuine interest in ICT
• Be able to pass an enhanced DBS check
• Drivers license will be a requirement due to the nature of the role visiting client sites

Desirable skills

• ICT qualifications are advantageous
• Desirable that you are able to self-manage your workload and work using own initiative
• Experience using Windows Microsoft Applications Mac OS etc.
