APA Lead – Children and Young People
Location:
PAN Hampshire (multiple locations, excluding Southampton - training in Portsmouth)
Salary: £27,482 – £28,552 per annum
Hours:
Full time, 37 hours per week

We are seeking an experienced and skilled APA (Adolescent-Parent Abuse) Lead to work with children and young people displaying unhealthy or abusive behaviours towards parents or carers. This is a specialist, trauma-informed role focused on preventing harm, reducing risk and breaking cycles of domestic abuse through targeted interventions and group work.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing one-to-one support to children and young people presenting with adolescent-to-parent abuse
* Delivering and coordinating preventative group work within the community
* Supporting young people to understand power, control, equality and healthy relationships
* Challenging abusive and controlling behaviours in an age-appropriate, non-judgemental way
* Supporting emotional regulation, confidence, self-esteem and conflict resolution
* Developing co-produced support plans focused on positive behaviour change
* Working collaboratively with parents, carers and guardians
* Identifying and managing risk, including safeguarding concerns
* Contributing to a coordinated multi-agency response alongside partner organisations
* Maintaining accurate records, case notes and monitoring data
* Supporting service development, engagement and accessibility for young people
* Participating in an out-of-hours on-call rota, including emergency response
What we’re looking for:
* Experience working directly with children and young people with complex needs
* Strong understanding of adolescent-to-parent abuse and domestic abuse dynamics
* Knowledge of safeguarding, risk assessment and trauma-informed practice
* Ability to build trust, challenge behaviour constructively and act as a positive role model
* Confidence working across agencies and community-based services
* Strong organisational, communication and IT skills
* Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes
* Ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and on-call duties
