Divisional Financial Controller – Leading UK Infrastructure & Engineering Business A major UK infrastructure and engineering business is seeking a Divisional Financial Controller to support one of its high-performing business units. This is a pivotal role for a commercially minded finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced project environment and enjoys partnering with operational teams. You’ll act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing insight, oversight, and challenge across financial performance, forecasting, project accounting, and cash management.
The position offers broad exposure across the business, significant autonomy, and the opportunity to influence strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities Deliver accurate, timely financial reporting and analysis to support operational and commercial decision-making. Own day-to-day financial management for the business unit, ensuring integrity of accounting data and compliance with group policies. Lead project accounting activities, coaching non-finance colleagues to enhance financial understanding and control. Produce monthly/quarterly performance reports, KPI analysis, and variance insights. Support annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting cycles.
Drive strong cash management including invoicing, credit control, and supplier payment discipline. Coordinate internal controls, audit requirements, and month-end processes. Evaluate financial implications of new business opportunities and strategic initiatives. What Success Looks Like High-quality financial insight that improves business unit performance Strong relationships with operational, commercial, and leadership teams Robust financial controls and reliable month-end deliverables Proactive identification of risks, opportunities, and efficiency improvements About You Part-qualified or qualified CIMA / ACCA / ACA (or equivalent) Minimum 2 years’ experience in FP&A, management accounting, or business partnering Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear business narratives Confident working across operations and commercial environments Excellent Excel and general IT skills (SAP desirable) Highly organised, detail-focused, and proactive You’ll join a respected industry leader delivering nationally significant projects, where finance plays a central role in shaping performance and strategy.
