Pharmacy Technician
Overview
Medipost Pharmacy is seeking to recruit a Cluster Pharmacist for the Special Meds, in Order Processing Department.
Primary purpose of the job- Providing proper patient care as per GPP (Good pharmacy practice) regulations
Responsibilities include training and compliance with relevant regulations, accurate prescription capturing, and supporting pharmacists and pharmacist assistants in SOPs, policies, clinical education and patient care.
Responsibilities- Attend training on pharmacy acts, GPP and POPI Act regulations.
- Ensure accurate capture of prescriptions for acute and/or chronic medication (as per SOP).
- Perform blind checking of prescriptions done by Pharmacist assistants as per SOP.
- Train Pharmacist assistants on SOPs, policies, clinical education and patient care.
- Handle clinical discussions/enquiries with patients, health care professionals or SPNs.
- Resolve rejections and prioritise adding scripts to WIP.
- Attend cluster and personal action diaries; comply with SLA requirements (mailbox profiles, action diaries within required timelines).
- Respond professionally to email messages/enquiries from management, SPNs or members (Email TAT of 2 hours).
- Attend to OUT OF WIP notifications and SOP training/revision training.
- Comply with Company Policies, Procedures and SOPs; stock management (cold chain, expiry dates, stock returns).
- Report to external service providers as needed (daily/weekly/monthly).
- Order stock with order department for items that are out of stock; handle Section 21 item ordering and claiming.
- Send medication/appliances quotes to external parties using the correct format.
- Paper claims submission using correct documents and follow-up on outstanding payments.
- Operational requirements: completion of daily allocated work according to requirement.
- Customer service and internal process compliance (Quality assurance): focus on minimizing errors and customer-related complaints; maintain a service failure rate at or below 1 over 3 months; comply with SOPs.
- Productivity and time management: productive and available according to contract hours; ESS – manage leave per company policies;
Eco time compliance – daily clocking per policy.
Experience
Min 1 year as a pharmacist.
Licensing and Accreditation
SAPC Registration.
Training RequiredTraining on company systems (e.g., Medipost APP, online authorisation system and procedures, ESS, etc.).
- Verbal and written communication skills, listening skills, patience, empathy, conflict resolution, customer service orientation, accuracy, data capturing skills, interpersonal skills and relationship-building; ability to work under pressure, adaptability, effective time management, detail-oriented.
- Sound knowledge of GPP (Good Pharmacy Practice) and pharmacy acts.
Expected output during probation period communicated by line manager.
An understanding of the implications of making errors in a pharmacy environment.
Other Important InformationWillingness to work overtime when required by management; commitment to continuous professional development (training/forums).
Willingness to assist with stock takes at least once per year and to assist or attend training in other departments (e.g., Walk-in Pharmacy and Production); inter-departmental training as needed.
