Custodian I – Prince Albert – Leave Replacement

Duties: The Custodian I plays a vital role in ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment at the Institute. Reporting directly to the Facilities Manager, the Custodian is responsible for a wide range of custodial and general maintenance tasks throughout the facility. These responsibilities include daily cleaning duties such as trash collection and removal, sanitizing washrooms and public areas, and maintaining cleanliness in all office spaces.
The Custodian will also be responsible for monitoring supply levels, preparing orders for replenishment, and ensuring that cleaning equipment is operated safely and effectively.
This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently or as part of a team, and excellent time management skills. The Custodian I must also communicate any facility-related concerns raised by staff to the Facilities Manager or the Occupational Health & Safety team, as appropriate. A strict adherence to confidentiality is required, particularly in relation to building keys, security protocols, documents, and institutional procedures.
Work hours may vary depending on the needs of the Institute, and the Custodian may be required to support special events or other duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager.
Qualifications: Grade twelve (12) or GED equivalent. The ideal candidate would have experience as a Custodian or in maintenance. Ability to work in conjunction with other custodian staff. Demonstrated ability to follow direction with excellent time management. Ability to operate general cleaning and maintenance equipment. WHMIS training and first aid/CPR considered assets.
