The Team:
The Engineering Branch provides leadership and professional guidance to ensure a safe and sustainable provincial resource road network through policy development and technical expertise. The Branch is organized into Coast, North, and South operational groups, along with Standards and Policy, and Finance and Management teams. It collaborates closely with engineering staff across the Ministry of Forests, supporting the delivery of construction, deactivation, and other infrastructure projects.
With a strong team of engineering and forestry professionals, the Branch offers a supportive and flexible environment for staff to contribute their expertise on diverse and impactful projects.
The Area Engineer provides design and engineering services and applies expertise to ensure safe and sustainable infrastructure, with a focus on bridges and roads within the Natural Resource Sector. This position emphasizes independent judgement and decision‑making, allowing you to make a tangible impact while contributing to an inclusive and collaborative team environment that values diverse perspectives and innovative solutions.
Qualifications –Education and Experience Requirements:
- Must be registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a fully licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
- Degree in Civil/Forest engineering or equivalent as recognized by EGBC.
- Five (5) or more years of recent (within the last seven (7) years) related engineering experience in infrastructure planning, design and/or construction projects.
- Related engineering experience in project management of infrastructure planning, design and/or construction projects.
- Field experience monitoring engineering practices and contract compliance.
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence (or equivalent) or ability to obtain one immediately.
- Five (5) or more years recent (within the last 7 years) engineering experience related to the Natural Resource Sector. Further preference may be given for more years of experience in this area.
- Must be willing and able to work in adverse outdoor conditions and terrain.
- Meet safety standards of Work Safe BC.

There is currently one (1) permanent, full time position available in Prince George. This position has full time on‑site requirements.
