Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at the University Hospital of Northern BC. In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, the Registered Nurse practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as well as within a patient and family centered care model.

The Registered Nurse practices in a variety of clinical settings and working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, participates in the delivery of client-centered care by assisting individual clients and their families respond to changing health care needs. Provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, providing and evaluating nursing care and by administering systemic therapy treatments to clients. The Registered Nurse demonstrates a specialized body of knowledge and bases practice on nursing science and related content from other sciences and humanities.

GR Baker Memorial Hospital is a full care hospital with 27 Acute Care beds, 4 ICU beds and 5 crisis stabilization beds. Some services provided the hospital:

• BC Cancer Agency Systemic Therapy Certification

• Knowledge of the indications, actions, reactions, routes, dosages and side effects of drugs used in a systemic therapy environment.
• Knowledge of the nursing problems commonly encountered in a systemic therapy environment as well as the physiological and behavioral aspects of cancer illnesses.
• Proficiency in initiating and maintaining intravenous therapy and knowledge of central line access and care.
