Base Helicopter Pilot (Prince George, Fort St John, Terrace)

Reporting directly to the Chief Pilot and Director of Operations, the Base Pilot will operate from one of our regional bases (Prince George, Terrace, or Fort St. John). This role combines flying duties with base leadership responsibilities, ensuring safe, efficient operations and strong client relationships. The successful candidate must be willing to reside in or relocate to the assigned base location.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct daily inspections and pre-flight checks to ensure aircraft readiness and compliance.
- Assess weather and mission conditions before each assignment.
- Operate aircraft safely for a variety of missions, including search & rescue, aerial surveys, forest firefighting, external load and precision operations, mountain and heli-ski flying
- Complete post-flight inspections and secure aircraft (tie-downs, covers, etc.).
- Accurately complete all required flight documentation (Journey Logs, Flight Tickets, Pilot Work Records).
- Communicate with maintenance and operations teams regarding aircraft status or anomalies.
- Coordinate and communicate with clients, including booking and managing day‑to‑day base operations.
- Oversee pilot scheduling in coordination with the Operations Support Centre (OSC).
- Supervise and support Base and Pool Pilots assigned to the location.
- Manage logistics related to fuel tanks, caches, and regional support.
- Assist with hangar and facility maintenance, including aircraft cleaning and general upkeep.
- Support Finance with billing, customer communication, and collections for base‑related accounts.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure safe and efficient base operations.
- Education:
Secondary school graduation certificate. - Licensing:
Valid Canadian Commercial Pilot Licence – Helicopter (CPL-H) and Class 1 Medical. - Experience:
Minimum 5 years of helicopter flight experience. - Endorsement on Bell Light/Intermediate, AS350, Bell Medium, or BK117 twin engine aircraft required.
- Experience with Bell 206 considered an asset.
- Flight instructor rating considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of Canadian Aviation Regulations preferred.
- Must pass a pre‑employment drug and alcohol test.
