Job Description:

To manage and control plant stores operations, including RM, WIP, FG, consumables, and spares, ensuring accurate inventory, uninterrupted production support, and compliance with company processes.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Inventory Management

Maintain optimum inventory levels to support production without shortages or excess.

Monitor FIFO / FEFO implementation.

Control slow-moving, non-moving, and obsolete inventory (SM/ NM / OBS).

Conduct daily, weekly, monthly cycle counts and annual physical stock audits.

Ensure inventory accuracy >99% in the system vs physical.

2. Inward & Outward Operations

Supervise the GRN process against the PO, invoice, and delivery challan.

Coordinate with QC for incoming inspection & material clearance.

Ensure timely material issues to production as per the BOM and plan.

Handle rejections, returns to vendor (RTV), and scrap disposal.

3. System & Documentation

Ensure all transactions are posted timely in ERP (SAP / Oracle / ERPNext etc.).

Maintain records for:

GRN

Material Issue Slips

Stock Transfer

Rejection & Scrap

Prepare MIS reports (daily stock, shortages, consumption, aging).

4. Production & PPC Coordination

Coordinate closely with PPC, Production, Purchase, and Quality teams.

Support line feeding as per daily/shift production plan.

Highlight material shortages, critical items, and risks in advance.

Support zero line stoppage due to material issues.

5. Warehouse Management

Ensure proper layout, binning, labeling, and space utilization.

Implement 5S, safety norms, and housekeeping standards.

Control material handling equipment (MHE) usage and safety.

Manage manpower allocation for stores activities.

6. Compliance & Process Improvement

Ensure compliance with ISO / IATF / Internal Audit requirements.

Participate in Kaizen, Lean, and cost reduction initiatives.

Improve material flow, picking efficiency, and turnaround time.

Key Skills &

Competencies:

Strong knowledge of stores & inventory control

ERP knowledge (preferably SAP MM)

Understanding of BOM, production planning, and line feeding

Analytical & problem-solving skills

Team handling & coordination

Good communication skills

Education & Experience:

Diploma / BE /

B.Tech (Mechanical / Production / Industrial preferred)

3–4 years of experience in manufacturing stores

Experience in Automotive / EV / OEM / Tier-1 preferred

Inventory accuracy

Line stoppage due to material

Inventory turnover ratio

Reduction in obsolete stock

Audit compliance score
