Band 2 Ward Clerk (Victoria Ward) - Part Time 15 hours per week
This post is part of a job share - you must be able to work set days of Wednesdays and Fridays.
Victoria Ward cares for patients with acute renal (kidney) conditions.
The post holder will assist with maintaining the smooth running of the ward and to relieve the nursing staff of clerical duties:
- Be the first point of contact for service users and visitors covering reception ensuring accurate information is recorded and communicated as appropriate.
- Provide general administrative and clerical assistance and support for the team including inputting data, word processing of correspondence, photocopying, receipt and distribution of post.
- Required to work flexibly across the range of hours that the service covers.
To liaise on a daily basis with nurse in charge - duties include:
Managing patient records including: requesting notes from medical records; tracking notes from the ward; answering medical record requests; answering incoming calls and either dealing with enquiries or diverting calls, and booking patient transport for outpatient appointments and treatment.
To be able to use the EPR system to book appointments, enter demographics, admit and discharge patients.
To prepare notes, and other relevant documentation for transfer with the patient to the wards as required, tracking using EPR.
To support nursing and medical staff as required.
To ensure the ward areas are kept well-stocked with stationary and photocopying as required.
Liaise with the facilities department on behalf of staff, logging maintenance requests.
Develop and maintain efficient and effective communication with other trust departments and external agencies to contribute to the smooth running of patient services.
Filing reports in and general maintenance of notes.
To take responsibility for own personal development.
Provide cross cover for Reception area during annual leave, training and sickness.

- Secretarial or clerical experience
