This post is part of a job share – you must be able to work set days of Wednesdays and Fridays. The Victoria Ward cares for patients with acute renal (kidney) conditions.
Job SummaryThe Post Holder will assist with maintaining the smooth running of the ward and relieve the nursing staff of clerical duties.
Key responsibilities include:
- Be the first point of contact for service users and visitors, covering reception and ensuring accurate information is recorded and communicated.
- Provide general administrative and clerical assistance and support for the team, including inputting data, word processing of correspondence, photocopying, receipt and distribution of post.
- Work flexibly across the range of hours that the service covers.
- Manage patient records, including requesting and tracking notes from medical records, answering medical record requests, handling incoming calls and diverting enquiries, and booking patient transport for outpatient appointments and treatment.
- Use the EPR system to book appointments, enter demographics, admit and discharge patients.
- Prepare notes and other documentation for transfer of the patient to the wards as required, tracking using EPR.
- Support nursing and medical staff as required.
- Maintain ward areas well‑stocked with stationery and ensure photocopying facilities are available.
- Liaise with the facilities department on behalf of staff, logging maintenance requests.
- Develop and maintain efficient and effective communication with other trust departments and external agencies to contribute to the smooth running of patient services.
- File reports and maintain general notes.
- Take responsibility for own personal development.
- Provide cross cover for the reception area during annual leave, training and sickness.
