Victoria Ward cares for patients with acute renal (kidney) conditions. This post is part of a job share, therefore you must be able to work set days of Wednesdays and Fridays.

Responsibilities
  • Be the first point of contact for service users and visitors covering reception, ensuring accurate information is recorded and communicated as appropriate.
  • Provide general administrative and clerical assistance and support for the team, including inputting data, word‑processing correspondence, photocopying, receipt and distribution of post.
  • Manage patient records: request notes from medical records, track notes from the ward, answer medical record requests, handle incoming calls by dealing with enquiries or diverting calls, and book patient transport for outpatient appointments and treatment.
  • Use the EPR system to book appointments, enter demographics, admit and discharge patients, and prepare notes and other documentation for transfer of patients to the wards as required.
  • Support nursing and medical staff as required.
  • Keep ward areas well‑stocked with stationery and photocopying supplies.
  • Liaise with the facilities department on behalf of staff, logging maintenance requests.
  • Maintain efficient communication with other trust departments and external agencies to contribute to the smooth running of patient services.
  • File reports and general maintenance of notes.
  • Take responsibility for own personal development.
  • Provide cross‑cover for the reception area during annual leave, training and sickness.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Good general Maths and English.
  • Experience working with the public.
  • Desirable: previous hospital clerical work, secretarial or clerical experience.
