Following our client’s successful launch of their Newbury unit earlier this year, the Newbury team has flourished, securing further long‑term cyclical contracts beyond its budget and creating a stable order book for a bright future.

As a Quantity Surveyor in Newbury you will actively tender, estimate and measure onsite for a range of works covering public, residential, retirement living, commercial and educational sectors. You will work closely with the Contracts Manager and client/supplier teams to ensure accurate planning, risk mitigation and profitable delivery.
Responsibilities- Measure and prepare cost estimates for contracts and tenders, highlighting commercial risks.
- Prepare cost value reconciliations for contracts, identifying risks and opportunities to ensure correct contract planning.
- Work closely with the Contracts Manager to agree and issue labour productivity targets before contract start, including direct labour incentives where possible.
- Build strong client and supplier relations, discussing variations and progress and seeking mutual solutions.
- Complete and analyse weekly site reporting, ensuring adequate cost information (labour rates, performance expectations, budgets, value, progress, quality and safety).
- You will be inquisitive, organised, honest and a genuine people person who thrives when collaborating with clients, trade teams and colleagues.
- Proven experience in an estimating and surveying role, managing projects from tender through to final account.
- Experience of successfully managing a value of works up to £3 million annually.
- Entrepreneurial spirit, with a keen eye for identifying business opportunities and negotiation gains. You will describe yourself as commercial, analytical and accurate.
