Overview

Senior Flow Assurance Engineer role rid work flexibility; open to applicants from across the UK, ideally able to commute to Aberdeen, Reading or Staines offices.

Role

To support growth within the Production Optimisation team in the UK, we are seeking a driven, solution-orientated and creative Senior Flow Assurance Engineer with knowledge in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and transport phenomena to play a leading role in traditional oil and gas and energy transition markets. As a Senior Engineer, you will work as part of a team on studies and projects ranging from conceptual to detailed engineering and operations support, with opportunity to be involved in a wide range of projects as part of a global team.

You will contribute to the technical delivery of Flow Assurance engineering excellence and collaborate closely with the Lead Flow Assurance Engineer to meet project deliverables on time and within budget. You will manage your own schedule, contribute to progress reports and suggest adjustments to project plans and costs as required. A proactive approach to problem-solving and high standards of quality and efficiency are essential.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and carry out steps in a defined flow assurance scope/workflow, following Wood or client policies and precedents.
  • Meet discipline cost and schedule requirements in production of deliverables as directed by the Lead FA Engineer.
  • Coordinate own work schedule with the Lead FA Engineer and assist with preparing progress reports.
  • Recommend changes in plans and estimated man hours/cost when necessary.
  • Perform steady state and transient single phase and multi-phase flow simulations for various projects (oil, gas/condensate systems, water injection, chemical injection, H2, CO2, etc.).
  • Develop a range of engineering deliverables (specifications, calculations, reports, technical requisitions, etc.).
  • Interpret specifications, investigate difficulties and review vendor documents.
  • Actively participate in design reviews.
Providing FA Discipline Expertise
  • Conduct problem solving in Flow Assurance engineering, addressing new concepts and varied problems requiring technical expertise, investigation and interpretation.
  • Develop alternative solutions, identify risks and benefits when required.
  • Develop solutions to nonrecurring problems by appraising, interpreting and evaluating data and precedents.
  • Exercise professional judgement in selecting and interpreting information and modifying standard methods with guidance from the Lead/Principal FA Engineer.
  • In consultancy areas, assist the Lead/Principal FA Engineer with delivering small-scale projects.
  • Manage cost, schedule and resources within an established program management plan; provide technical input to proposals and CTRs as required.
Qualifications

  • Previous experience in Flow Assurance.
  • Recognised engineering qualification (e.g., Chemical, Petroleum or Mechanical).
  • Knowledge of multiphase flow, fluid dynamics, heat transfer and related topics is desirable but not required.
  • Proficient with typical Process, Flow Assurance and PVT software (OLGA, Leda Flow, Pipesim, PVTSim, Multiflash).
  • Experience with Process Modelling tools (Aspen HYSYS/Unisim) is desirable but not necessary.
  • Experience with steady state and transient FA modelling for Oil and Gas-Condensate systems.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards and ability to use Office suite.
  • Ability to undertake discrete FA scopes within a Study or Project independently and to guide/mentor Graduate Engineers.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.

Desirable

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with Visual Basic is desirable.
