Independent Power Producer – Solar & Battery Energy Storage
Up to £60,000 DOE + benefits
An established Independent Power Producer in the UK is looking to add a Grid Engineer to their growing technical team. Over the past 15 years, the business has grown into a significant player in the development and construction of large scale solar projects. They now hold a portfolio in excess of 7GW, with ambitious plans for further growth in the coming years.
Alongside this, they currently have around 70MW of projects in construction, with grid connections spanning both transmission and distribution networks.
As an IPP, the company operates across multiple revenue streams. Projects are taken through development and sold at shovel-ready stage, acquired and managed through construction, and also owned and operated long term. This role will support projects across the full lifecycle, offering a varied workload and strong opportunities to broaden your technical and commercial skill set.
You’ll work closely with an industry-leading Grid professional with over a decade of experience at National Grid, supporting a portfolio of high‑voltage, utility‑scale projects, including several NSIP schemes. The breadth and scale of the portfolio means the role is diverse, technically engaging, and highly visible within the business.
The company places a strong emphasis on culture, collaboration, and long-term thinking. They are keen to bring in people who value quality, teamwork, and longevity, and who want to grow with the organisation.
The role sits at the centre of the development function, working closely with the Head of Grid and Head of Development to support overall project progression.
Key Responsibilities- Reviewing, managing, and supporting new grid connection applications and offers for large‑scale projects
- Liaising with DNOs and the TSO, building strong working relationships and optimising grid outcomes
- Managing application processes and key milestones to ensure projects progress smoothly through development
- Supporting site visits during construction to maintain visibility of project delivery
While the role covers the full project lifecycle, prior experience is only required within the pre‑construction and development phases.
