A brilliant opportunity has come up to work with one of the world’s largest protective packaging and technical molded parts businesses. The company has been running since the late 1800’s and they are now seeking a Field Service Engineer to cover the Reading and the surrounding areas for the machinery side of the business. They are looking for someone who is dynamic, driven and determined to have a successful career in packaging.
Field Service Engineer – Packaging Machinery
£30,000 - £40,000 (DOE) + Company Vehicle + Benefits
Location:
Reading
25 days holiday + bank holidays

Additional Info
Travel required daily within a 50-mile radius of Reading – typically one customer site visit per day.
Occasional overnight stays but a rarity - all costs fully covered.
Balanced travel workload across the service team.
Ongoing training and development available, including upskilling on PLCs and systems.

Responsibilities
Installing, servicing, maintaining and repairing packaging machinery at customer sites across the South UK, but further afield too on occasion.
Carrying out mechanical work such as replacing bolts, nuts, chains, pulleys, gearboxes, sprockets, and working with pneumatics/hydraulics.
Reading of electrical and mechanical diagrams. Ideally with experience and understanding of wiring & re-wiring too.
Supporting electrical tasks including motors, drives, relays, pumps, cylinders, and inverters.
Fault finding on PLC and dealing with interrogation issues.
Delivering outstanding service and building rapport with customers.
Key Requirements
2+ years’ experience in mechanical or electrical engineering (packaging experience preferred but not essential).
Solid knowledge of mechanical systems, including pneumatics or hydraulics.
Competent in basic electrical engineering – including 1-phase and 3-phase.
Experience with PLC inputs and outputs.
Engineering qualification Level 3 or higher (electrical)
A self-motivated team player who’s comfortable with UK-wide travel.
A positive attitude and ambition to grow with the company.
