Assistant Accountant – Maternity Cover

Our client is seeking a candidate for a 1-year maternity cover as an Assistant Accountant
.

You will be working closely with experienced professionals and gaining invaluable insights and hands‑on experience by using advanced accounting software such as Sage 50 and Excel.

This role supports part‑qualified accountants (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, AAT, QBE). The employee will assist the team and the Head of Finance as well as the overall business.

They are offering £35k - £43,000k per annum depending on experience. This is a full‑time, permanent position with working hours from Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:30. Hybrid basis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Perform bank, supplier, customer, and balance‑sheet account reconciliations.
  • Process invoices, payments, and manage accounts payable and receivable.
  • Maintain and update the general ledger with accurate transaction records.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
  • Analyse financial data to identify discrepancies and variances.
  • Prepare and maintain financial documentation and records.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Part‑qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar financial role.
  • Proficiency with accounting software, preferably Sage 50.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
