Diagnostic Radiographer Sonographer – Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading
Join the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust as a professional Sonographer, dedicated to delivering high‑quality patient care within a multidisciplinary team. This permanent, full‑time role offers the potential for preceptorship from Band 7 to 8A upon successful completion of clinical and managerial competencies.
Key Responsibilities- Perform general, musculoskeletal and lithotripsy ultrasound examinations, producing accurate, computerised reports.
- Provide comprehensive, patient‑focused service, adapting techniques to individual needs.
- Supervise and mentor junior staff, supporting competency development.
- Maintain technical competence and high standards for all diagnostic ultrasound work.
- Contribute to audits and improvements in imaging reporting.
Education & registration
- HCPC registered.
- Degree or diploma in Radiography.
- Post‑graduate Diploma in Ultrasound (DMU) or equivalent.
- MSC in Ultrasound (desirable).
Experience
- 1+ year post‑Ultrasound Diploma experience.
- Broad experience across a range of ultrasound examinations.
- Current or recent NHS experience.
- Evidence of audit involvement or comparable reporting experience (desirable).
Skills
- Sound knowledge of cross‑sectional anatomy and complex pathologies.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and multi‑tasking ability.
- Ability to work autonomously and within multidisciplinary teams.
Salary: £47,810 – £62,682 per annum (pro‑rated for part‑time).
Working hours:
37.5 hours per week (some weekend working may be required).
Contract:
Permanent.
