Job Summary
We are looking for a Reporting Sonographer for our Maternity & Gynaecology Department. Only applications from a PG certificate in medical ultrasound in obstetrics and gynaecology issued by a UK CASE accredited institute will be considered.
Main Duties- Perform transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound scans for all types of obstetric and gynaecology examinations.
- Report findings and refer appropriately to the multidisciplinary team while communicating results to patients.
- Conduct screening for nuchal translucency, anomaly, growth scans, early pregnancy, and other gynaecology scans.
The Maternity Ultrasound Department consists of a team of sonographers, two healthcare assistants and two fetal medicine specialists and provides ultrasound scans throughout pregnancy as well as gynaecological scans.

Formulate and issue clinical reports, train student sonographers, independently undertake and interpret obstetric and gynaecological examinations, participate in advanced clinical practice, use clinical judgment for independent decision making, support service development and innovation, maintain professional conduct and confidentiality, perform out‑of‑hours work as required, and undertake other duties within the general scope of the post.
Qualifications- Essential
- UK recognised CASE accredited qualification.
- Minimum two years’ experience in reporting complex ultrasound with a track record in fetal anomaly screening.
- Experience in internal quality control and external quality assurance procedures.
- Strong problem‑solving, critical analysis and change‑management skills.
- Interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication, teamwork, assertiveness, self‑confidence, and the ability to work under pressure.
- Good IT literacy and ability to produce high‑quality images.
- Clean, neat appearance and flexibility around working hours.
- UK professional registration and, if applicable, Disclosure and Barring Service check.
- Desirable – experience working in a maternity and gynaecology unit.
